Stripe & payments

What is Stripe?

Stripe is our chosen payment processor. Stripe is a world-leading provider of online payment software, used by many of the world's top companies, including Google, Xero, Pinterest, Shopify, Salesforce, Taskrabbit, Zoom, Airtasker, and literally millions more.

Is Stripe safe and secure?

To put it simply, Stripe is as secure as payments and personal information can get on the internet, a similar level as your bank. Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. To accomplish this, they use the best-in-class security tools and practices to maintain the highest level of security. You can learn more about Stripe's security practices here.

Is it safe to provide my bank details and other personal information on Fixable?

There is very little risk in providing your personal information and bank details on Fixable. All financial information is held by Stripe in a highly encrypted format. Fixable does not have access to any of the information you provide as part of the Stripe onboarding process.

Why do I need to provide extra personal information to be a fixer or to sell something on Fixable?

We understand that it can be a bit concerning to provide personal information on the internet. Since Stripe handles all of our payment processing on Fixable, they need to comply with very strict Australian laws around "know your customer", anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing. Stripe is legally required to verify your identity by asking for certain personal and/or business information.

What if I'm not comfortable providing the information?

If you don't want to provide the additional information required to be a fixer or sell things on Fixable, you will still be able to book and pay for repair services and purchase things as well. You won't be able to receive payments though. The best idea would be to send us a message (either via the speech bubble at bottom right or here) and we'll give you a call and try to put your mind at ease.
